Sherborn, MA
Sherborn is a very quiet rural community 17 miles southwest of Boston.
Routes 27 and 16 cross through the town to provide easy access to major
roads for commuting or shopping. It is surrounded by larger towns that
provide great restaurants, shopping and business opportunities.
The original inhabitants of "Boggastow" were the Nipmuc Indians. They
eventually sold their land to the English settlers. The name was then
changed in 1674 from Boggastow to Sherborn, which was also a town in England.
Sherborn was an agricultural community and maintains that character
even today. During the 1800's there was shoemaking, willow weaving, whip
making and cider production. To this day, the town still has many acres
of orchards, Christmas tree farms and open farmland. Sherborn residents
also enjoy Farm Pond with its beaches and sailing programs.
Sherborn children attend the outstanding Pine Hill Elementary School until
the fifth grade. Then the students of Sherborn join the Dover sixth grade
students and move into the highly regarded Dover-Sherborn Regional School
System, which incorporates the Middle School and the High School. Both
towns have gone through a serious transformation of the school facilities,
elementary through high school.
Sherborn is a small community with a great deal of pride!
